Today is the one day of the year dedicated to big papa himself. Dad, daddy, pops, papa, father dearest, baba, daddio, old man....whatever you want to call him we hope you take a little (or a lot) of time today to send some appreciation to the big guy who helped you get into this world. Kudos also goes out to all the other men who've stepped up and played an important father-figure role in a life. After all, it takes a village. So big ups to the fathers, dads, step-dads, uncles, brothers, coaches, teachers, bosses, neighbors, and anyone else who's been a positive male influence to a youngin'.
Here are a few videos I'd like to dedicate to my dad, a musical man who has been kind enough to share his music with me.
1. Jazz, no moment with my father is ever spent without it. Here's one of his favorites and the world's greatest saxophone player (according to my dad and hundred's of others) Charlie "Bird" Parker.
2. 60's and 70's alternative and folk rock: As much as he hated on my loud punk and screamo days, the man has a soft spot in his heart for rock 'n' roll....as long as it's the right kind. Although really, who doesn't like America?
3. Michael Jackson: This really goes without any saying nor does it need an introduction. Here's Michael from his glory days, the title track off my dad's favorite album Off the Wall.
Ace, Wow,you captured the essence of my musical tastes, ans the right performers, who had a zest for both art and life in their music. you know me sweetheart. did you tell your friends about us doing christopher Cross' 'Sailing' for karoake together? It's a special moment for me, a special moment. Get ready to do more!
