The Rice Cakes

There has been an almost endless amount of sad news out of the art world recently, so let's take some time to celebrate the life that continues to flow through it as opposed to focusing on the losses its suffered.

As mentioned before, the folks at Profound Aesthetic have been on the road some recently seeing wonderful places and meeting awesome people. Myself, Sue-Elise, had the great opportunity to meet and play with a collection of extremely talented musicians out of Providence, Rhode Island. Ladies and gentlemen, please meet Roz Roskin and the Rice Cakes

This charming little trio creates a big sound that rocks any size room and moves even the toughest punk rocker and most jaded hipster. With a voice that mimics a 90's Gwen Stefani and music that tinkers along the borders of experimental and indie-rock, Roz and the Rice Cakes have earned the title of Best Local Act of 2010 by the Providence Pheonix's reader's poll and the opportunity to share the stage with the likes of Andrew W.K. at the AS220 Foo Fest in August. Currently they are campaigning to fund a music video for their newest single "Magma", for which they've raised over $1,000 on Kickstarter. This is probably due to the fact that the song is infectiously catchy and the promo video for the campaign is quirky, hilarious, and genuine, just like the band. See for yourself after the jump, and if you're feeling generous help this d.i.y. rockers employ some freshly graduated filmmakers all for the sake of good music. Cheers to the artists who chase the dream.
