So the biggest night in music wasn't so great after all. Let's start with the much anticipated Michael Jackson tribute performance which i've been waiting all week for. I almost gave in to buying the 3d glasses from Target but remembered I had some laying around from Avatar. The choice of song was ok (understandable with the current situation in Haiti and Planet consciousness becoming more popular) but I wasn't too pleased with the people they chose to perform it (aside from Usher) especially the girl who won american idol and sings country music? What was nice was at the end where his children came out and accepted the award.
What sucked: Kanye should have been in attendance and should have won something for 808's, Gaga should have won over Taylor Swift for album of the year, Rihanna should have performed and 70% of the "forever" performance shouldn't have been censored even when they weren't cursing. What was great: Beyonce killed it, Lil Wayne, Drake and Eminem also did their thing on stage and Maxwell is the man. All in all, If you missed the Grammy's you didn't miss much, here are the best moments in a nutshell below.

Good analysis of the night. Def missed Kanye. MJ tribute was poorly put together, Taylor Swift is cutey with her High School inspired music, good vocals, good teen pop star, album of the year? Definitely belonged to Gaga, a star in all its glory. She should have taken it home.
ReplyDeletewayne is a great performer
ReplyDeleteThe latter performance is so sick I can't stop watching it. What an epic combo .
