ROLLING STONE: Artist of the Decade

This guy is sheer talent, period, rather yet, exclamation point. Rolling Stone Magazine named Kanye West artist of the decade for redefining the sound of hip-hop. When you can sit down and listen to an entire album from start to finish, that is genius. His debut album "The College Dropout" made it to the number one spot as the best album of the decade according to Entertainment Weekly. Kanye responded to this honor in his blog by saying:

WOW... THIS IS REALLY FLATTERING... I'VE HAD SOME UPS AND DOWNS THIS YEAR, WELL ACTUALLY THIS DECADE. JUST SEEING THIS COVER TAKES ME BACK TO THAT TIME OF MY LIFE. I REMEMBER HOW MUCH PAIN AND LOVE WENT INTO THIS ALBUM. NO ONE SAW IT COMING. THIS PROJECT WASN'T ABOUT ME, IT WAS ABOUT A TIME IN PEOPLES LIVES WHERE PEOPLE FORCE OPINIONS ON YOU AND YOU HAVE TO MAKE CHOICES FOR YOURSELF. WE LOVED 50 CENT BUT WE WANTED TO BE THE YANG. WE WANTED TO WEAR PINK POLOS AND RAP ABOUT BEING HURT INSTEAD BEING INVINCIBLE. --KANYE

In Jay-Z's song, "Moment of Clarity" Jay says, I dumbed down for my audience to double my dollars. Yes, that may have worked, but Kanye certainly didn't have to do that since he has mastered the art of rapping with substance, yet retaining the catchiness of his beat or making a killer hook to keep those people that only listen to music on a surface level happy. However, for people like us [The Profound Team] that listen to music with substance and meaning, a catchy hook doesn't cut it. Kanye delivers, each and every time from his music to his sense of style, to his art sense. Pure genius. Cockiness aside, we want to congratulate Kanye on his success and are proud to be 1 of the 1,614,820 fans on his facebook group.
