Profound Impact

The shooting and killing of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin has created a ripple effect of outrage, debate, conversation, protest, disgust, and embarrassment that's vibrated throughout our public sphere. Last night in New York City's Union Square, a Million Hoodies March took place to demand justice for Trayvon. People across the internet participated by uploading pictures of themselves wearing hoodies. While the response to this event is definitely riding on this moment of protest, it's also been an unfortunate but momentous opportunity for many to reconsider race and racism in the United States and how they intersect with our legal and judicial systems. This video, shot at the Million Hoodies March, is a brilliant example of such meditations.

  1. I have no tears for Trayvon Martin. I have a fear that if I start to cry, I may never stop. I might remember the many that have been killed with no justice. RIP Trayvon.
