Chances are you're probably already familiar with the work of El Jefe. His designs are almost ubiquitous in the independent music scene, and his non-musical clients include Dreamworks, the New York Times, NPR, a few universities, and the 9:30 club in DC. Based in DC, El Jefe design is a one man show run by illustrator and "failed rock star" Jeffery Everett. While his portfolio is diverse, Everett is most famous and called upon for his illustrations, which combine vintage imagery with fringe culture iconography and neo-noir elements. As an ex-aspiring musician, Everett works closely with each band to create the perfect concept for the posters, often finding inspiration in the music and lyrics of certain songs. The stories behind the posters (which can be found on the El Jefe website) express this unique relationship between the music and the artist. Take for example this recent poster for the Horrible Crowes:

Anyway, here are some more posters by the legendary Jefe. To purchase one (or two or three) visit his website www.eljefedesign.com
